There are many ways to tackle sexual harassment in an organization, the various methods of prevention include strategies listed below.

  • Organizations should make a sexual harassment policy by mentioning the criteria and actions against violations. Before joining, every employee should be asked to sign it to ensure loyalty. This proves to raise a case against the assailant and maintain equality within the organization.
  • Through awareness programs and training, workers should be taught the real meaning of sexual harassment. This includes physical touch without giving permission, hurtful comments, behaviors that show the desire to have sexual pleasure. It also provides approach methods through HR, seniors, security officers; and defensive techniques like shouting for help, pushing the person away, or trying to escape.
  • Senior employees and HR should make monitoring to keep a safe work culture. Through actions and words, they should support every employee by preventing threats. 95 percent of assaulters go unpunished, as per women polled by ABC and the Washington Post. If there are constantly people who are keeping an eye on everyone's efforts, it can help reduce the number of sexual harassment cases.
  • Monthly meetings and individual treatment will lead to quick actions and better mental health. Apart from work and brainstorming meetings, if a space is created for everyone to share their experiences, problems, and learnings while working, it might open up some issues that had not been raised earlier.

Although companies follow all the procedures, the issue has not been resolved fully. It is not restricted to the roles of companies but also employees. If the management and the policies are correctly balanced, it can give growth to both the workers and the company. 

Apart from productivity, ensuring safety is equally necessary. Because if the employees will not feel safe and mentally fit, then the chances of them staying will be lesser and, in turn, will lower the benefits of a company.
